A film critic and scholar, Shaoyi Sun has taught and written about Chinese movies for many years. He loves to watch movies (good and bad), read books (popular and serious), drink wine (no Chinese wine please), and take Chinese-style foot massages.
Most recently, he wrote a multi-episode TV drama script and would love to pitch his ideas to any interested investors!
We asked our film critic/scholar from China, Shaoyi Sun, to recommend a film for you to see and this is what he recommends:
Eyes of A Beauty (Xi shi yan, China, 2002; d. GUAN Hu), for its interesting and bold tripartite structure that features three intersecting stories about three Chinese women living in a rapidly changing society.
